Palliative care is for pain and symptom relief and affirms life.

This service provides free supportive medical and nursing services to cancer patients of Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital for whom treatment is no longer an option and who require supportive care in their own homes.

Cancer patients who are not patients of Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, but who are referred to/or register directly with Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital Palliative Care doctor, may avail of this service.

Pastoral Care is a ministry of presence offered to all our patients, their families and their carers by our Pastoral Care Team. Staff are specially qualified to give such support. Pastoral Care enables you to share your anxieties about yourself, your family or any concern you may wish to talk about. We provide spiritual, emotional and social support. Ministers of different religions are most welcome to visit their own patients.

Our trained staff will care for you throughout your stay here. The Oncologists will visit you everyday and during emergencies. Treatment will be carried out as prescribed by your doctor. Each day meals are catered for you. You have the luxury and privacy of either air-conditioned single room, double-bedded rooms or open ward beds with television and telephone for your convenience. All our rooms are fully furnished with attached shower and toilet facilities except for open ward. Each room has a balcony and overlooks either a beautiful landscaped garden or the hill and the sea. Your needs will be taken care by our team of doctors, nurses and Allied Health staff.

Our consultation hours are from 9.00am to 5:00pm on Monday to Fridays.

Laboratory testing plays a crucial role in detection, diagnosis and cancer treatment management. Our team of Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians examine and analyze blood and other body fluids utilizing state of the art equipments to provide a vast volume of information to enable your doctors to prescribe appropriate treatments. This is to ensure that you receive the best treatment and also to monitor the progress of your treatment.

Mammogram Screening is now available in our hospital. Every woman aged 40 and above would be advised to get a mammogram screening done every year. Mammogram Screening detects early breast cancer.

Our Computed Tomography (CT) is a 40 multislice scanner which allows us to do Radiotherapy planning and other radiological diagnostic imaging investigations.

We provide general X–Ray investigations with our latest digital radiography system.

Our ultrasound facilities will allow us to diagnose and evaluate areas in the body such as gallbladder, liver, thyroid, kidneys and blood vessels using the latest sound wave technology system. There is no radiation involved and it has no side effects.

A Medical Physicist’s primary role is to assure that the highest level of quality care is maintain in the planning and treatment management of the patient. The Medical Physicist also maintains the quality assurance programme in radiation oncology. The physicist is responsible for commissioning the equipment used in radiation therapy. He /She also contributes to the development of development of therapeutic techniques such as Brachytherapy, Stereotactic Radiosurgery and collaborate with radiation oncologists in planning and management of each patients treatment plan. The Medical Physicist is also responsible to ensure that all the radiation equipment is in good working order.

Our team from the Pharmacy department is her to take care of your medication needs and reconstitution of cytotoxic drugs for chemotherapy.

Our Medical Social Welfare is available to help and advice you and your relatives on personal and financial problems during office hours.

Our Patient Education Team members will explain to you the type of treatment that you are going to receive, the side effects which may occur as a result of the treatment and steps to be taken to overcome it. All this information will help to cope with your treatment and understanding of the treatment process.

The aim of our Dietitian is to provide dietetic counseling to patients.

The counselling program includes the participation of the patients' relatives as they would be directly involved in the dietary management of the patients at home.
