Palliative Care

Palliative care is for pain and symptom relief and affirms life.

This Service provides free supportive medical and nursing services to Cancer patients of Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital for whom treatment is no longer an option and who require supportive care in their own homes.

Cancer patients who are not patients of Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, but who are referred to or register directly with Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital Palliative Care doctor, may avail of this service. This service covers all our patients resident on Penang Island. Patients from mainland Penang requiring Palliative Home care Services will be referred accordingly to another service provider.

The Palliative Home Care Team comprises of a Registered Medical Practitioner, a Registered Nurse and a State-Enrolled Nurse.


Palliative Care Clinic

Patients from mainland Penang are followed up only at Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital Palliative Care Clinic.

Admission of a Palliative Care Patient

Should a patient require admission, medical and nursing management will be by the Palliative Care Doctor and the ward staff. Home visits will commence when the patient is discharged from the Hospital.
